Why We Invested
Our current political climate has left notions of equality and tolerance to fall to the wayside of hate and fear. While this division affects a wide variety of people, the rise in anti-Muslim rhetoric and actions must specifically be addressed. To do this, community organizing needs to be supported by a strategic, wide reaching messaging campaign. This grant allows Civic Nation to build out a positive communications engagement strategy around shifting negative perceptions of the American Muslim community. Civic Nation is uniquely positioned to build networks and relationship with decision makers and writers in the entertainment industry that - if reached successfully - may be able to include more realistic and positive portrayals of the American Muslim, Arab, and South Asian communities in pop culture.
