Why We Invested
Better understanding of the political attitudes of young people is vital to understanding the future direction of political and democratic crises. Millennials and Post-Millennials will be half of eligible voters by 2020 and two-thirds by 2032. The future of American democracy depends heavily on the political activities and preferences of these emerging generations. The Center for American Progress’ Project on Generational Change and American Democracy will establish the facts about Millennial/Post-Millennial generational size, and its inclinations and relation to democracy and populism. It will also project the effects of these new generations on future public opinion and voting behavior, especially in relation to the health of democracy.
