Center for Strategic and International Studies: Defending Democratic Institutions (DDI)

Defending Democratic Institutions, a project of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), seeks to counter the efforts of foreign adversaries to disrupt democracy and undermine public trust of democratic institutions, including the U.S. justice system.

Why We Invested

Defending Democratic Institutions (DDI) works to assess and counter foreign technology-enabled threats to our judicial system. CSIS convenes legal, cybersecurity, and other experts to identify and map the threats facing our judicial system. CSIS trains members of the judiciary and their staff in methods for countering foreign adversary threats and is developing a rapid-response team of experts who can be mobilized if there is an attack on the judiciary. Improving cybersecurity of institutions and individuals is a crucial mechanism for strengthening America’s capacity to guard against threats to our democracy.
