Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget

The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget is a nonpartisan, non-profit organization committed to educating the public on issues with significant fiscal policy impact.

Why We Invested

Throughout the 2016 presidential campaign, the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget was a leading authority on the accuracy and impact of the economic proposals and positions put forth by candidates. Their work received considerable media visibility throughout the campaign season, and they were directly cited on seven occasions during presidential debates. We support the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget to help increase their organizational capacity and closely monitor the economic policies in the post-election season.

This grant seeks to expand the Committee’s fact checking capabilities of the administration, encourage greater transparency, and increase accountability for the impact of economic proposals. The success of these objectives should increase media outreach of diverse experts to discuss the implications of economic policies. As an organization viewed as right-of-center, the Committee’s voice has the potential to be especially impactful in this political moment.

Our grant in 2014, focused on providing project support to the Committee’s new initiative called Fix the System, which will engage diverse groups of business and political leaders to reduce political dysfunction and gridlock.
