Crowdsourcing Expert Capacity in Congress

The Beeck Center at Georgetown University launched in 2014 to bring together diverse global leaders to join in the fight for creating social change. The Center provides research, workshops, classes, and convenings, to educate and provide innovative tools for improving lives through capital, data, technology, and policy.

Through the evolving digital revolution, many new and creative ideas are changing how people interact and learn from each other. With Congress as the nation’s leading policy-making institution, they seem to be falling behind with technological advances. They lack the capacity and tools needed to enhance the policy expertise of Congressional staffers.

With the help of our grant, Democracy Fund will support the Beeck Center’s first field research project of the Resilient Democracy Coalition. This project is considered to be the first research plan for the Center in formulating public policy change by providing access to constituent expertise. The project will renew modern methods of information flow throughout Congress that will make progress in building a better democracy for the American people.
