WHY WE INVESTED
At a time when U.S. immigrant communities are under threat, ethnic media outlets, publications, online sites and broadcasters who strive to serve immigrant and of-color communities have little financial support. After the New American Media closed its doors, thousands of media organizations that serve these communities were left without a institution to support and empower their work. The Center for Community and Ethnic Media (CCEM) rebuilds and amplifies the forgotten voices of the minority communities and fosters inclusivity in the United States.
In the next phase of their work, CCEM will play a crucial role in strengthening ethnic media by acting as a national hub for outlets, providing them with important resources and trainings, platforms to uplift their work, and connections to mainstream media.
