German Marshall Fund: Digital Democracy Project

The German Marshall Fund’s Digital Democracy Project will create a hub for collaboration on practical policy approaches to defending democratic rights and fostering debate on the new digital ecosystem.

WHY WE INVESTED

Democracy Fund is proud to support the Digital Democracy Project’s goal to develop policies that address the role of platforms in our democracy. The creation of a policy center, led by Karen Kornbluh hosted at the German Marshall Fund, will generate capacity within the field to better consider policy innovation as it relates to platforms and coordinate action with other think-tanks and centers.

The policy center at the Digital Democracy Project will provide a hub and instigator for new policy ideas within the group of organizations working to grapple with how to understand this change in telecommunications technology and social behavior.

Total Commitment

2018: $600,000 up to two years.
