Ida B. Wells Society for Investigative Reporting

The Ida B. Wells Society for Investigative Reporting is a nonprofit, news trade organization that is dedicated to increasing the ranks, retention, and profile of reporters and editors of color in the field of investigative reporting.

WHY WE INVESTED

As ongoing racial inequality roils the national landscape, too few journalists working on investigative reporting comes from the communities suffering the most. The Ida B. Wells Society seeks to raise awareness and opportunities for investigative reporting among journalists of color, and to foster the desire for social justice journalism and accountability reporting regarding racial injustice.

With the help of our grant, The Ida B. Wells Society for Investigative Reporting will seek to provide mentorships, trainings, and support to journalists of color that are seeking to do more investigative reporting. The skills developed through these trainings will provide these journalists with valuable experience that can be applicable to beat and project reporting and will be geared towards both novice and veteran journalists.
