Media Freedom and Information Access Clinic

The Media Freedom and Information Access Clinic at Yale University Law School is dedicated to increasing government transparency, defending the essential work of news gatherers, and protecting freedom of expression by providing pro bono legal services and developing policy initiatives.

WHY WE INVESTED

Democracy Fund is proud to support The Media Freedom and Information Access Clinic, including their annual conference “Access and Accountability 2018: A Conference for Transparency Advocates.” This clinic is a key actor in the field of media law, and plays a unique role in the broader clinic landscape, including as a convener of media law clinicians. Their conference serves as the definitive meeting point for all of the clinic network member and potential members, and provides an important opportunity for clinicians to share and learn from one another in person.

With enhanced capacity support, The Media Freedom and Information Access Clinic’s will continue to play a key role in the coordination of the legal clinic network, and strengthen the field as a whole.
