WHY WE INVESTED
Security vulnerabilities affecting election systems can be mitigated through better coordination between elections offices and the larger state infrastructure. Governors command the bulk of state cybersecurity resources, but governors are understandably distanced from elections. NGA aims to facilitate intragovernmental coordination to ensure states have comprehensive cybersecurity and response plans.
This grant supports a year-long cybersecurity policy academy with a cohort of five to seven states. The workshops are designed to advise governors on supporting long-term resilience for elections and to enhance intrastate collaboration around election cybersecurity.
Democracy Fund is proud to support the NGA’s workshops, which provide recommendations on intrastate coordination that can be applied nationwide.
