National Immigration Law Center

National Immigration Law Center (NILC) is a center in the United States that engages in policy analysis, litigation, education, and advocacy to achieve the vision of a society in which all people – regardless of race, gender, immigration, or economic status – are treated fairly and humanely.

WHY WE INVESTED

A series of legal challenges to the current presidential administration’s refugee and Muslim ban has mobilized resistance across numerous sectors and movements. With so much public disarray the National Immigration Law Center’s (NILC) programs seek to address the needs of the minority communities, specifically MASA, immigrant, and refugee communities.

Democracy Fund is providing a grant to NILC to support impact litigation and media campaigns that aims to protect immigrant and MASA communities. With the help of our grant, NILC will use litigation and communication strategies to challenge the termination of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, provide information, tools, and resources to educate state and local advocates about what the DACA termination means, and leverage the opportunity provided by legal challenges against the Muslim and refugee ban to raise awareness about Islamophobia in the U.S.
