New Hampshire Listens Program

The New Hampshire Listens Program, a project at the University of New Hampshire's Carsey School of Public Policy, is a civic engagement initiative committed to creating and sustaining a fair process for public engagement.

WHY WE INVESTED

The NH Listens program was created in 2010 with the mission to help New Hampshire residents talk and work together to create communities that work for everyone. They believe in increasing effectiveness of decisions that get made, adding legitimacy to the work of public leaders and increasing equity as more voices are included.

With our grant, the NH Listens Program seeks to will partner with another DF grantee, the Beeck Center for Social Impact & Innovation at Georgetown University, to design and execute a demonstration project of a digital version of a congressional committee hearing. The project will invite members of the New Hampshire congressional delegation to test new deliberative democratic processes and technological tools to provide Congress with a potential new model for field hearings that can be adopted by committees.

Total Commitment

2018: $40,000 up to one year.
