OpenNews Local Coder Cohort

OpenNews, a fiscally sponsored project of Community Partners, connects a network of developers, designers, journalists and editors to collaborate on open technologies and processes within journalism. As part of their work, they create and support a cohort of a community of peers working, learning, and solving problems in technology for local newsrooms.

WHY WE INVESTED:

OpenNews is creating a stronger, more representative news ecosystem that journalism needs to thrive. They do this by building spaces in-person and online that support and connect changemakers and journalists working in technology. OpenNews’ Local Coder Cohort connects local journalists in newsrooms outside of the New York-Washington, DC corridor. Their work includes hosting convenings online and off, organizing peer mentorship programs, and fact-gathering about the needs of the community.
