Why We Invested
R Street Institute’s Governance Project aims to assess and improve the state of America’s national system of self-governance, with particular attention to Congress. The project produces research papers and popular writing about congressional capacity and separation-of-powers issues, typically published on LegBranch.com. The Governance Project is a co-convener of the Legislative Branch Capacity Working Group, which connects experts, reform advocates, and congressional staff and members as they work toward shared reform objectives for congressional organization, operations, oversight, and resources.
This grant also supports the American Institutions Network, which coordinates efforts to promote government accountability and defend the institutional norms that undergird constitutional self-governance.
