The Campaign Legal Center

Campaign Legal Center (CLC) is a nonpartisan organization that fights against threats to our democracy in the areas of campaign finance, voting rights, redistricting and ethics. CLC is adamantly nonpartisan, holding candidates and government officials accountable regardless of political affiliation. CLC plays a leading watchdog role on ethics and campaign finance issues, providing expert analysis and helping journalists uncover violations, and participates in legal proceedings across the country to defend the right to vote.

Why We Invested

The field of money in politics has suffered many well-publicized setbacks in recent years — in order to ensure that our electoral process is open and transparent, the Campaign Legal Center (CLC) employs a team of litigators and policy experts who are deeply versed in campaign finance laws. In addition to serving a vital role in ongoing litigation on these issues, the CLC serves as a partner to many other reform organizations, offering support such as organizing and drafting the amicus briefs that play a vital role in higher court decisions.

In addition to its legal work, the CLC has worked to modernize the outdated conventional approach to informing and educating the public around these issues. Its website provides up-to-date information about campaign finance reform work, including legislative and regulatory actions.
