The Lugar Center

The Lugar Center, under the leadership of former United States Senator Richard G. Lugar, is a platform for an informed debate on global issues. The Center has become a prominent voice on issues that framed much of Senator Lugar’s career – nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction, global food security, foreign assistance effectiveness and global development, energy security, and enhancing bipartisan governance. Combining the wisdom of expert sources and a dedication to thorough research, the Lugar Center works to improve the quality of debate, and bridge the ideological divides around these key issues.

Why We Invested

The Lugar Center is committed to thoughtful analysis and civil dialogue that facilitate bipartisan governance. The Center’s Bipartisan Governance Project seeks to foster dialogue around standards for governance and civility, promote new bipartisan reforms and practices, and incentivize members of Congress to work with members of the opposite party. As one of the most credible organizations in the United States working to increase Congress’s ability to function, we are proud to support the Center’s mission to build upon Senator Richard Lugar’s legacy of finding bipartisan solutions to meet the challenges facing the United States. This grant will help The Lugar Center to expand its work to focus on the unique challenges currently facing the U.S. Congress, including building its capacity to conduct oversight of the executive branch.
