WHY WE INVESTED
The OpenGov Foundation is investigating the establishment of a Congressional Digital Service (CDS) to push the development of new, open-source technology to help relieve the burden of highly strained offices to enable a more responsive and open Congress. This project is modeled after the successful efforts of the U.S. Digital Service and 18F to bring in outside technical talent to improve Executive Branch digital operations. CDS would recruit a small team of top technologists and deploy them in partnership with key congressional stakeholders to help bring the institution into the 21st century at no initial cost to taxpayers. The Congressional Digital Service would be incubated within the OpenGov Foundation and would be an independent entity.
