University of Texas at Austin: The Annette Strauss Institute

The Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life is housed in the Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin. The Institute reaches thousands of people annually with research, curricula, and events designed to increase people’s ability to effectively participate in self-governance.

Trust in elections is crucial for a healthy democracy, and yet there has been inadequate research on how Americans perceive electoral processes and how those perceptions may vary based on partisanship, age, education, gender, and media consumption. The Annette Strauss Institute seeks to understand these complexities and how to best address them.

This grant will support the Institute’s research into American perceptions of elections. After analyzing the results from the Texas Media & Society Survey, the Institute will create and test messaging intended to inspire trust in electoral outcomes.

Democracy Fund is proud to support the Annette Strauss Institute’s work to improve public trust in elections.
